Payment Safety Check

The Payment Safety Check tells you the safe way to pay one supplier for one transaction, and the red flags that mean walk away.

The invoice is in front of you. The supplier wants a deposit by wire, today, to an account in a name you do not recognise, in a country you were not expecting. You do not know whether that is normal or the last you will ever hear from them.

Two cheap habits fail here. The first is trusting platform Trade Assurance to cover you: it covers far less than most buyers assume, and only on-platform orders paid through the platform's own payment flow — step off it and you carry the loss alone. The second is asking the supplier which method they prefer, which means asking the other side of the deal to choose the terms that protect you. We do the checking instead: the company details, the account name, the deposit structure, the story the paperwork tells.

Price: $100 — fixed price. Turnaround: 2 working days.

The verdict you get: Closes with a clear GEB verdict — pay as proposed, change the terms first, or walk away — plus a confidence level and the single red flag that matters most. Not a data dump; a decision.

What you receive

  • A payment route recommendation for 1 supplier on 1 transaction
  • 3 checks to run on the company and bank details before any money moves
  • The red flags we found, ranked, with the one that should stop the wire
  • A deposit and balance structure we would accept, written as percentages
  • A pay / change the terms / walk away verdict with a confidence level

Best for

  • First-time buyers about to send a deposit
  • Any payment to a new supplier or a new bank account
  • A fast sanity check when something about the invoice feels off

Not for: Not legal advice, not regulated financial or investment advice, and not insurance. GEB does not hold your money, is not an escrow service, does not process payments, does not act for you in a dispute and cannot recover funds already sent. We tell you what we would check and what we would refuse; the decision and the transfer stay yours. For a full read of the deal, step up to the Deal Safety Report.

Natural next step: Deal Safety Report.

Frequently asked questions

What do you need from me?

The supplier's company name, the invoice or proforma, and the payment details they sent you. The checkout questionnaire asks for these three things.

How fast is it?

Two working days.

What if the deal is bigger than one payment?

The check ends by pointing you to the Deal Safety Report, and its fee can be credited toward that step.
